La nostra casa
Our casita(guesthouse)is a separate building from our main house. Our property sits on 2 acres in a community located in the the red rock mountain area of southern Utah. Our community is named Kayenta; at it's heart is the red rock scenery and an art community, with three art galleries, a sculpture studio, pottery studio, and two painting studios. It is a "green" community where exterior lighting is kept low to protect the view of the night skies. The houses are modern adobe-style, designed to merge into the landscape rather than intrude upon it. The Native American people made this and surrounding areas their home over a thousand years ago and their writings (petroglyphs) are nearby. The casita enjoys a serenity and quiet that is seldom found in the world of today. Often, when having coffee on the terrace, you may hear the scuttling of a lizard running across the sand, or families of quail running about. Coyotes are sometimes heard late at night. Just off the terrace is a hot tub to use after a day of hiking, biking, golfing, or skiing.

This is an area surrounded by National Parks, including Zion NP, Bryce NP, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and the North Rim of Grand Canyon.The nearest city (15 minutes) is St. George, a historic Utah city. Because of a nearby changes in elevation, during the winter months you can hike, bike, golf and the next day drive two hours to Brianhead ski resort. We have over 325 days of sunshine per year and we are located on the Arizona and Nevada borders so our climate is more like Phoenix rather than Salt Lake City. The nearest large airport is Las Vegas,Nevada, about two hour drive but a lifetime away.

I think a key aspect is the timing flexibility of non-simultaneous exchanges if needed to meet your schedule that we offer, and a warm and sunny experience. We would also accept certain pets to be part of the guest party, but would need to discuss it on a case by case basis.

Other than the dates mentioned above, we can be very flexible as to other times now that we are newly retired, we are interested in all offer possibilities.

Since this is our guest house, we can offer a non-simultaneous exchange so folks can choose the best time for them to be here Because our home is separate from our casita, it is not necessary for us to do a simultaneous exchange. You can use our casita whether we are here or not.

Allan and I recently retired after long and fulfilling careers, Allan as a Bureau Director in a state agency and Lanelle as a psychotherapist and educator in university. We want to travel, meet people from all over the world, share our unique home and learn about others. We are avid golfers and belong to a local country club which we will be happy to share with like minded folks. Allan is also interested in music, blues to be specific and I am an oil painter. I would be delighted to share an easel and supplies with my guests. We have children and grandchildren and get to see them quite often. We live with two black cats, Jake and Maggie who "own us", and we would be amenable to care for exchanger's pets when we stay in their homes.
