The Eastern Docklands, the old port of Amsterdam, is a melting pot of modern art and architecture, local history and a typically Dutch port environment. Former shipping company buildings have been turned into creative hotspots, alternated by innovative architecture and cafés and terraces.
Our house is situated on KNSM-eiland (KNSM island), the island which was the first to be transformed 15 years ago. Close to the city centre, but with a leisurely atmosphere of its own, tranquil and family friendly. Especially in Summer when people sit outside along the quays enjoying the water and boats passing by.

Our 14-month old son is at the moment the main criterion for a nice holiday. We therefore look for a house with an enclosed garden, so that we can be outside all day. Near the sea. For example in Devon or Cornwall, Normandy or Brittany, the Algarve or Spain along the Mediterannean coast.

We are literature graduates (English and Spanish) with a 1-year old son. My partner is a press officer for the city council of Amsterdam, and I am freelance content manager and editor for corporate communication departments.
We cannot imagine living anywhere else but Amsterdam and know the city down inside out. Culture, nice food, architecture and parks and water/beaches is what we look for when on vacation. We practise Bikram yoga, which we have also taken up in New York, Boston and Barcelona when we were there.
