Our home
Spacious apartment [120 m2] occupies the lower part of a 17th century house on one of the most beautiful canals in the city center. A long marble corridor leads from the frontdoor to the back where the corridor suddenly lights up due to the patio.
The apartment has two parts: the livingroom in the front, overlooking the canal and the patio, and the kitchen and the three bedrooms at the back, in the so called "achterhuis", all rooms overlooking the small patio, with the kitchen and the masterbedroom downstairs and two bedrooms up-stairs (one with a double and one with a single bed). The toilet and the bathroom (a small one, shower only) are also upstairs.
We don't have pets and our house is allergy proof.

Everything Amsterdam has to offer is (literally!!) just a stone throw away from our house.

Amsterdam is regarded as a piece of art by itself. But as within one can detect a caleidoscope of cultural activities. In the Rijksmuseum you find many Dutch masterspainters, in the Van Gogh the Impressionists and in the Stedelijk the Modern Arts. Artists from everywhere come to Amsterdam because of the liberal character of the city.You can taste them in the theatres, on festivals, in galeries or on the streets.

Amsterdam has got almost 7000 monuments, which include churches, bridges, gables, but also city furniture. Together they form one of the most important and best kept historic citycenters in the world. Important monuments include city views, for example on the Nieuwmarkt.

Our apartment is in the historic center, a stone throw away from the Nieuwmarkt and in walking distance of the Jordaan, the 9 streets, Central Station (main railway Station). Some of Amsterdams finest hotels surround our house (The Grand, hotel l' Europe).
You can walk to everything: supermarkets, organic supermarkets, the organic market every saturday on Nieuwmarkt, Jordaan, museums, bookstores, galleries, the movie theater and more.

Amsterdam has lots to offer in summer, from outdoor concerts, het Grachtenfestival and 'De Parade' to loads of other cultural activities and festivals, while the sea and the beach is still reachable in less than an hour, door to door (by car or public transport).

We would like a place in NY City and the US East Coast (anywhere nice between Boston and Charleston, SC) on the following dates:


NYC August 3-10 (we might consider two weeks, due to the location)
US East Coast August 10-17,
our place is available this Summer August 3-28.

Our preferred dates are: first three weeks in August. But we are open to other dates and are willing to consider non-simultaneous exchanges.

*Please note: we already have exchange agreements for the last part of our holiday (August 17- 27) . However, our place is still available this Summer from August 3-28.

Next summer, we would like to visit the East Coast of the United States, preferably outdoors or near the sea, including visiting New York: beginning of August till midAugust.
We want to go visit New York for about a week (3-10 August), and are interested in staying somewhere nice another week (10-17 August), so were open for offers.


We're also in for a long weekend exchange with Berlin, London, Paris or Venice, all year round (school holdidays). Surprise us!

We are a family of 4: our two children are 12 and 15 years old. My husband has his own company, I work as a clerk at the court of appeal. We love to read, wining and dining, to explore the vicinity strolling or by bike, art, architecture (culture in general) and water or the sea. In my free time I am a horse riding instructor for the disabled. Our daughter loves to ride as well. Our son likes to hang out with friends. The children are still in school.
We love to travel, but like to have a place of our own abroad. We love our house, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do during your stay.
