We live in a spacious three bedroom apartment of 120 m2. The house is build in 1925 and renovated in 2009. Our house had two floors: the ground floor and the basement.
On the spacious GROUND FLOOR you can find the (open) kitchen and the living room. On the front side of the house (the living room) you can observe the vividly city, from the back of the house (the kitchen) it's possible to relax and enjoy the silence. In a separate room you can study or use the computer. Both the study and the kitchen have doors that will lead you to the garden. A nice spot for a sunny start of the day or to barbecue in the evening!
The BASEMENT has three bedrooms. The master bedroom and the smaller (guest) bedroom both have a double bed. The third room is used for storage at the moment, but can be transformed into a third bedroom. We have two bathrooms: one has a big shower, two sinks and a toilet. The other one is perfect for relaxing: it has a bath (fits 2 persons easily) and a sink.
In a separate closet in the basement you'll find a washer and dryer.

During your visit you can entertain yourself with our (LCD) TV, Playstation 3 or computer. A bit tired? Watch TV in the master bedroom! You want to share your experiences in Amsterdam with your friends? No problem, the computer in the study is connected to the internet. It's also possible to use the printer.
The kitchen is fully accomodated, with a full size fridge/freezer, a full size gas stove/electric oven with hot air function and a microwave. All the ingredients for a nice meal.

Our apartment is located in West (Landlust), a popular district of Amsterdam. Just around the corner are lots of shops and several supermarkets. There are many good restaurants in the neighborhood and lots of take out opportunities. The Westerpark is neaby, where you can find several nice restaurants and cafe's.

Public transportation will pick you up in front of the house and will bring you to the old-city center in 5 minutes. Popular tourist destinations are nearby:
Jordaan: 5 minutes by tram
Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum: 10 minutes by tram
Vondelpark: 10 minutes by tram
Westerpark: 5 minute walk
Dam square: 10 minutes by tram
Central train station: 15 minutes by bus
Train station Sloterdijk: 5 minutes by bus or tram

It's also possible to use our 2 bikes. If you need more bikes, you can rent bikes nearby.

Children are welcome.
We have one friendly cat, who need some food and water during your visit. Therefore, it's not possible to bring you dog or other animals.
Smoking is only possible in the garden.

For this spring/summer (2011) we already plannend our holiday's. This means we are NOT available for an exchange, but you could rent our apartment during the first two weeks of august. Mail me for more info.

After august 2011:
In general, we are very flexible for dates, especially for short weekend trips in Europe.

GENERAL

Cities in Europe are alway's fun to visit in a weekend. Or maybe you can offer us your house nearby a beach of lake for a surf holiday in Europe, like Biarritz or Riva del Garda. It's also possible to offer destinations across the ocean.

We are a young non-smoking couple. We both work in Amsterdam: Jeroen is a IT-specialist, Nienke is a researcher for the city of Amsterdam. She also studies Photography.
We like traveling and spend most of our holidays in other countries. We like to visit big cities (like New York or London), but also like to camp, hike or go backpacking. When we're home, we like to go road-cycling, hang in the park with our friends and go surfing.

We have two friendly cats, who need some food and water during your visit. They like spending their time lying on the couch or chasing other cats in the garden.
