La Casa
We live in a former warehouse that was completely transformed and renovated 3 years ago. It is now a very contemporary, open and comfortable place that looks pretty much like a loft with contemporary furniture.
On the ground floor, you'll find the toilets near the entrance, there's a huge open space with kitchen, dining area (up to 10 seats) and living-room with sofas, armchairs and stereo and a collection of CDs.
There's a desk room with a library connected to the internet (high speed connection). The parents'bedroom (double bed, 140/200 cm) with its private bathroom, big tube (for 2 people), wash basin and laundry.
In the living area, there's a couch which can be used as a single bed.
Upstairs, there's another library and a sofa in the mezzanine and our daughter's room which is like a studio with its own shower, wash basin and toilets. There's a single bed, a desk and convertible sofa (suitable for 2 young children).
There is a complete home control system (shutters,lights...)and a heated floor system all over the house which is just perfect in winter time.
Although it is situated in the heart of the city, it is absolutely quiet and private with a garden and a beautiful wooden terrace fully equipped (a Weber barbecue, 2 tables, 12 chairs, 2 deckchairs).
No doubt you will feel wonderfully at ease spending your holidays there.

You will find everything you need as far as shopping is concerned within a 5 minute-walk from the house.
There are bakeries (where you can buy the famous French "baguette"), butcher shops, greengrocers supermarkets, a wine shop (where you'll find local and great French wines) a pharmacy, a newsagent, banks and on Saturdays and Tuesdays the market with all sorts of typical food.
What's more, the tram station is 5 minutes away and provides direct access to Strasbourg city center which you reach in less than 10 minutes.
Strasbourg is a beautiful city famous for its typical architecture (old Alsatian houses), its amazing cathedral, its great food and restaurants and also for the European Institutions that you can visit. There are also many museums (contemporary art, historical museums ...).
In Christmas time, there is a world famous Christmas market that you shouldn't miss.
It is also very close to Paris (by high speed train : 2h20), Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg... and if you enjoy nature, the Vosges (mountain and forest) are 30 km away.
We would be interested in swapping homes with you in summer 2011 (15th July to 30th August : 15 days or more... or less !) or end of December 2011.

My husband and I are in our late 30ies and we have a daughter aged 12.
My husband is a product manager in an international firm, I teach English in a French highschool and our daughter is a student at Strasbourg dancing academy.
