La nostra casa

In Zone 2, with easy access to all London has to offer. This is a spacious (235 sq metres) Edwardian house in a safe, quiet tree-lined street; with a modern, stylish and very comfortable interior. If you like contemporary art and furniture you should feel very at home.

There's a master bedroom with a super king size bed, en-suite shower room and walk-in wardrobe; a large guest room with double sofabed; two (single) children's bedrooms; two further bath/shower rooms, and an office.

Our large kitchen is modern and very well-equipped. An adjoining conservatory dining area opens onto the deck and garden, with outdoor dining area.

We have a large lounge with two comfortable seating areas and an open fire. The large guest bedroom doubles as a separate children's lounge, with beanbags, TV, DVD, X-Box, musical instruments etc.

Outside our pretty garden (20 metres) has a dining table, barbeque and trampoline (with safety netting).

Upstairs we also have a stylish and peaceful roof terrace with seating and views over West London. Both garden and terrace face south-west for all-day sun (when it's out!).

There's high-speed wireless broadband, satellite LCD TVs, ipod docks, DVD player (and 200 DVDs), Netflix etc.

As we have two children (11 and 13) there are games, toys, books, bikes etc.

Parking outside the house is always available.

We are in a quiet, safe and fashionable area of North West London, between Queen's Park and Kensal Rise. Ours is a particularly quiet, tree-lined, family street of Victorian and Edwardian houses, with friendly neighbours (who are happy to help you during your stay, should you need it).

It's a great area for families with children; Queen's Park itself is a beautifully maintained Victorian park and has a playground with climbing equipment, huge sandpit and adjacent paddling pool, a miniature farm, tennis courts, table tennis, mini-golf and a popular, refurbished café. There’s also a programme of lively kids’ entertainment at the bandstand in the summer. An even closer park - just one block away has a small playground for under-13s.

There are some boutiques, delis, cafes, restaurants and gastro pubs in the neighbourhood. We have an independent cinema - the Lexi - just 3 minutes walk away. In the Summer they have evening screenings in the park where you take a bottle of wine and picnic blanket to watch the movies.

Local Thai, Indian, Italian and Japanese restaurants home deliver in the evenings. A large supermarket is a 5 minutes drive, and several supermarkets will deliver within 24 hours if you order online. An excellent farmers' market takes place every Sunday, offering lots of fresh local produce. London's biggest and very impressive shopping centre, Westfield, is 10 minutes by car or direct overground train.

At the end of August Europe's largest street party, the Notting Hill Carnival, takes place over 2 days. It's an astonishing spectacle. Our house is a 15 minute walk from it. The world famous Portobello Market is also in Notting Hill.

Of course, you'll want to get into Central London. We're in Zone 2 on the Underground/Overground. Our closest station is Kensal Rise (North London line) - 2 minutes walk. Also, Queen's Park (Bakerloo line) is a 10 minute walk through the lovely park. Just round the corner you can take the bus to Oxford Street (25 mins) or to Notting Hill / Portobello Road (10 mins) and Kensington (20mins).

Museums, including the British Museum and the Natural History and Science Museums, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, National Gallery, London Zoo, numerous theatres and restaurants are easily accessible by underground and bus. Good road links will take you further afield if you want to explore more of England.

Sports fans - we are a 15 minute drive from Wembley stadium, 10 minutes from Lords cricket ground and have direct trains to Arsenal, Chelsea and Queen's Park Rangers.

We are around 40 minutes drive from Heathrow or Luton airports, 15 minutes to Paddington station, 20 minutes to the Eurostar terminal at Kings Cross which takes you directly to Paris in 2 hours.

October (3rd week) - European city break considered (Edinburgh, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels)

New Year; 28 Dec to 5 Jan we can do a non-simultaneous exchange (you come to London, we would go to yours another time).

August 2014; somewhere hot and sunny with a pool or very close to the beach.

Would also consider 3-4 days in central Paris or Amsterdam exchange during 3rd week of October 2013.

Paddy runs an online retail business, Jude works for an artist. We have a boy and a girl aged 11 and 13. We are non-smoking, conscientious guests who will take great care of your home.

We completed four successful exchanges; two in 2010 (Canada and France), and two in Summer 2012 (USA and Spain).

Our interests include art, books, cooking, dining out, exploring the great outdoors, movies, theatre, sport.

Our very friendly cat will need feeding while you're here, and we're very happy to reciprocate.
