La nostra casa

Our home was built in 1904, is traditionally furnished and retains many period features. It's a cosy, lived-in family home.

Living room with 2 sofas (1 reclining), reclining armchair, digital TV/recorder, hi-fi, working fireplace. South-facing dining room overlooking sunny garden. Kitchen/utility room with pine table, handmade Mexican tiling, all usual appliances including KitchenAid Espresso machine. Downstairs WC. Double bedroom with bay window and ensuite bathroom with power shower. Good size bedroom with single bed and additional full size single pull-out bed. Bedroom overlooking garden with full size bunk beds. Study/computer room. Bathroom with bath and power shower. Attic 'den' with large plasma TV, DVD, games console, home cinema speakers, keyboard, bean-bag sofas, computer - great for teenagers and we can put the truckle bed up here if needed. Broadband wi-fi throughout.

We had our garden professionally designed about ten years ago and it now has mature shrubs and planting. There is a table-tennis table, a large comfortable traditional Mexican hammock, a paved patio with teak table and six chairs, and a charcoal-burning kettle barbecue.

I dintorni

We are in a quiet street in leafy Chiswick, surrounded by friendly neighbours, many of them families. It's a short walk to lots of attractive places, including:
- Chiswick House and Grounds: an 18th century Palladian villa with landscaped gardens, a great climbing tree and a lovely cafe
- the world renowned Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew with its famous tropical glasshouses
- pubs on the River Thames where you can eat, drink and watch the boats go by
- A leisure centre with lagoon pool, squash and badminton courts
- Gunnersbury Park, with tennis courts and playground
- Chiswick High Road with dozens of restaurants, boutique shops, food shops, etc.

We are 5 minutes walk from Gunnersbury Station on the District tube line, which takes you into central London, and is the line for the Natural History Museum (complete with dinosaurs), the Science Museum, Big Ben and the Tower of London. We're also 5 minutes walk from Kew Bridge Station, which takes you to Waterloo Station for the South Bank complex, with the London Eye, London Aquarium, National Theatre, concert halls, cinemas and galleries.

We are handily placed for Heathrow Airport (15 minutes by car), the M4, M40 and M25 motorways, and mainline train stations if you are planning to visit other parts of the UK. Windsor, Brighton, Bath, the Cotswolds, Oxford and Cambridge can all be visited in a day trip.

Chi siamo

We are a family of four: Mark, Sarah, and our two sons Harry (20) and Alex (18). Harry and Alex may or may not be travelling with us. Mark works for an international NGO having previously spent 20 years in advertising; Sarah is a secondary school special needs teacher. We enjoy travel, the arts, good food and wine, and the countryside.

We have one cat, Tuppence. It would be ideal if you could feed her, but she can board elsewhere if you don't wish to.

We have done exchanges for the last two years, which have worked really well, and we're now keen to do more. We will treat your home with the same care that we give to our own.
